69th Annual Conference Highlights -
April 8-11, 2015 - Ft. Myers, Florida

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services “pulled out all the stops” to host a stellar 69th Annual Conference in Ft Myers. Florida, April 8-11. The Southwest Florida location provided perfect weather as well as easy access to one of the most productive winter vegetable production areas in the world. NAPMM returned to its roots with a variety of tours featuring farms, packing facilities and the University of Florida’s Agricultural Research Facility in Immokalee.

Attendees also experienced tours of two retail and two wholesale markets as well as the Winter Estate and Laboratory of Thomas Edison and some valuable classrooms sessions.
Congratulations to Market Manager of the Year Ronnie Best, from the State Farmers Market in Raleigh and to the newest Certified Market Manager, Rose Harrell.

As the photos below depict, a great time was had by all. Thanks again to our friends from Florida; you certainly showed us some southern hospitality. See everyone next year in Kansas City Missouri! - Jim Farr—NAPMM Conference Chair

2015 Fall Regional Wholesale Meeting Highlights
October 4-6, 2015

Twenty three delegates joined hosts Tom and Mary Preston for NAPMM’s Fall Wholesale Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, October 4-6. The meeting started with a Texas-size bar-be-que at the Preston home.  Reports from attendees claim the amount of food was only exceeded by the graciousness of the hosts. The event also provided an opportunity for delegates to network and socialize.

Monday morning featured an entire day of tours, beginning with the San Antonio Produce Market. The group toured several tenant facilities which have recently been renovated to comply with the latest food safety requirements.  Many of the businesses at the market are family owned and have operated on the site for generations and take great pride in the quality of their products. Special thanks to Jimmy Scarsdale and Dan Cantalini for opening their businesses to the group.

Allied Republic Waste Systems treated the group to a lunch on the Riverwalk at Acenar HotMex CoolBar.

The afternoon featured a tour of the newly constructed San Antonio Wholesale Produce Market. This market, which will open this fall, features state of the art units for sale and lease. Many of the units have already been sold and will soon be in operation.  The market is located perfectly to be a distribution center for the abundance of Mexican Produce which serves the greater San Antonio area as well as Austin, Dallas, Houston and points beyond.  Thanks to Elio Botello for arranging the in-depth tours of this beautiful facility.

Tuesday events included a special membership meeting as well as some time to tour San Antonio.

Thanks again to Tom Preston and his Board for hosting this meeting.
